    Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist (COMT) Exam DESCRIPTION: This oral practical examination allows the participant to demonstrate proficiency in clinical reasoning and differential diagnosis, including properly screening for serious pathology. Testing content will include assessment and management techniques including: cervical, thoracic, lumbar and sacroiliac scanning examinations, Cyriax’s STTT principles, localized spinal stability testing and appropriately graded mobilizations followed by neuromuscular reeducation and therapeutic exercise techniques for all spinal involvement.     Michael Miller Clinical Instructor Michael Miller completed the NAIOMT Fellowship program during 2021 and is continuing to matriculate within the Andrews University DSc program. He received his DPT from University of Maryland in Baltimore in 2013 and moved to Colorado in 2012. He earned the OCS certification in 2017. He currently serves as the outpatient therapy services supervisor at Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver with clinical and administrative duties. He works primarily with patients with non-surgical sports medicine diagnoses.     Alan Lam Clinical Instructor Alan Lam, DScPT, FCAMPT, FAAOMPT, graduated from the University of Alberta with a Masters of Science in Physical Therapy in 2013, and received a Diploma of Advanced Manual and Manipulative Physiotherapy from the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. He then went on to obtain a Doctor of Science in Physical Therapy degree in 2020. Alan enjoys the challenges of treating spinal conditions and longstanding pain. He has presented at conferences and appeared as a guest speaker on podcasts for Canada’s national dance educators on chronic spinal dysfunction and its manifestations in the peripheral joints. Alan’s interest in these topics has led to his publication of the following: The Effect of Upper Cervical Mobilization/Manipulation on Temporomandibular Joint Pain, Maximal Mouth Opening, and Pressure Pain Thresholds: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.     Laura von Wullerstorff Faculty Laura von Wullerstorff, DScPT, OCS, COMT, FAAOMPT, opened LvW physiotherapy in Belgium, in 2009, and is specialized in spine and sports injuries as well as antenatal and pelvic floor rehabilitation. Laura owns and operates her own physiotherapy consulting business which allows her to teach manual theory courses globally as an instructor and examiner. Laura supports her patients to strive for a balanced approach to both health and body, whilst encouraging the therapists she teaches to continually seek certifications and education to help patients reach these goals.   • Erika Fabian | ASPIRE

    Erika Fabian Faculty Erika Fabian, DScPT, FCAMPT, FAAOMPT, graduated in 1993 at Semmelweis Medical University in Budapest Hungary. She immigrated to Canada and earned a BScPT from the University of British Columbia in 1996. She also became a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy in 2005. She earned a Doctor of Science degree at Andrews University in 2015. She was also accepted as a Fellow with the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Therapists. She is currently working at her own practice and provides clinical mentoring and instruction for students.     Tyrees Marcy Clinical Instructor Tyrees Marcy, PT, DPT, CSCS, OCS, COMT, FAAOMPT, LJLCP graduated from California State University Sacramento in 1998 with her BSPT. In 2004, she graduated with her post-graduate certificate in manual therapy from Curtin University in Perth Australia and completed her transitional PT Doctorate from A.T. Still University in Mesa, AZ in 2010. She is currently working on her Ph.D. at the University Concordia Chicago in Health and Human Performance. She is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, an Orthopedic Certified Specialist, and a Fellowship Graduate of the North American Institute of Orthopedic Manual Therapy (NAIOMT). She is a certified Connect Therapy and Thoracic Ring Approach Practitioner. Tyrees is Faculty for the Olympic Sports and Spine Therapy Orthopedic and Sports Residency as well as the Orthopedic Fellowship programs. Tyrees is also an Item Writer for the Specialization Academy of Content Experts and the Maintenance of Specialist Certification. She serves on the Credentialing Services Committee for the American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Education (ABPTRFE). She is Adjunct Faculty at Graceland University. Tyrees currently works at OSS Therapy located in the South Sound of Washington State, with a clinical focus on outpatient orthopedic conditions of the spine and extremities as well as Industrial Rehabilitation with the performance of Functional Capacity Examinations for return-to-work capabilities. shatzert@yahoo.com
